U.S. News & World Report Ranks UNLV Among Top Universities By Yield For Fourth Consecutive Year
National publication ranks UNLV 11th in its annual analysis of yield – the rate of students accepted who then enroll; up one spot from the past two years.
U.S. News & World Report recognized UNLV as one of the nation’s top universities by yield – the rate of students who are accepted and decide to enroll. This is the fourth year consecutive year UNLV has been on this list.
The publication analyzed fall 2012 entering class information and placed UNLV 11th, up one spot from a 12th place ranking the past two years. UNLV ranked 25th in 2011.
“The high yield rate is indicative of enhancements to UNLV’s academic offerings and the overall student experience,” said UNLV President Donald Snyder. “We’re on the right track in creating an environment which connects students to a diverse curriculum and a robust campus life. More students are choosing to be Rebels and we’re excited about where UNLV is going.”
U.S. News & World Report ranked 270 schools. Of the 5,133 students accepted at UNLV in the fall of 2012, 3,294 enrolled for a yield of 64.2 percent. UNLV’s yield in last year’s report was 60.5 percent. According to fall 2012 enrollment data, Nevada residents made up 81.5 percent of UNLV’s freshman class.
“The ranking is reflective of UNLV’s increased recruitment efforts and commitment to strong academics and student services,” said Shannon Goodman, associate vice president for enrollment and student services at UNLV. “We’re pleased to see our student population grow to attract not only Nevada residents, but more out-of-state and international students.”
U.S. News & World Report in 2013 ranked UNLV among the nation’s most diverse colleges for undergraduates. The university was also recently named a military friendly campus by G.I. Jobs Magazine for the fourth consecutive year and made the 2014 list of top military friendly colleges and universities in the publication Military Advanced Education.
